Coburg, 12-01-2011

Two young scientists received the Brose Prize from Peter Weidinger (Director Material Laboratory Brose Group) in November in Chemnitz. For five years now, the automotive supplier has awarded this prize in collaboration with the Scientific Alliance of Polymer Technology (WAK) for excellent research on developing new methods and technologies for plastics processing.

The winners of the 2011 prize are Dr.-Ing. Markus Bussmann (University Duisburg-Essen) for his thesis "A calibrated integrative model to describe the tube formation process in blown film extrusion" and Dipl.-Ing. Maximilian Drexler (University of Erlangen-Nuremberg) for his dissertation "Modeling and simulation of time and location independent temperature fields during laser sintering of thermoplastic parts".

The WAK is an alliance of 30 acclaimed plastics engineering professors from Germany and abroad that awards prizes each year to six researchers in three different subject areas. In his
speech at the award ceremony, Peter Weidinger explained the motivation of our company: "Brose wants to send out a message by conferring this award. We hope to make our young specialists in the engineering and scientific disciplines aware of the attractive opportunities in the field of plastics engineering. We also want to highlight the fact that engineers can be very creative, especially in plastics engineering, because the material offers lots of scope for design and potential applications.
