2.BBL: Brave Coburgers Come Up Short
Last Saturday, BBC Coburg suffered a 90:77 (43:45) defeat against BG Hessing Leitershofen, marking their second loss of the season. The second-placed team of the ProB South proved too strong for the injury-hit Vestestädter on this evening. Tim Herzog was the top scorer for BBC with 23 points.
Coburg, who could only travel to Leitershofen with ten players, started the game well. Early three-pointers from Tim Herzog and Nico Wenzl got them going. After a balanced first quarter, it was the home team that managed to pull away slightly in the middle of the second quarter. However, the young BBC players responded with a 9-0 run and went into halftime with a 43:45 lead. After the break, the game remained close. Neither team gave an inch, setting up an exciting final quarter. But in this quarter, the hosts from Leitershofen stepped up their offensive game. The Vestestädter found it increasingly difficult to score. Although Simon Franke reduced the deficit to 74:70 with five minutes remaining, coach Patrick Seidel’s team couldn’t get any closer. Leitershofen gradually extended their lead and secured the victory.
BBC Coburg now has two consecutive home games on the schedule. Next Saturday (02.11.), the Vestestädter will host the Ahorn Camp Baskets from Speyer, followed by a Franconian clash with the Würzburg Baskets’ farm team a week later.
