Technical Product Design Apprentice

Product Design is a key element in innovation and sustainability in the automotive industry. Designers are the glue bridging the gaps between engineers, customer teams, and testing. At Brose as an apprentice, your daily tasks will consist of training to design systems and products of the future. This includes designing, drafting, holding design reviews, attending customer meetings, releasing prints, and supporting production tool changes.

Apprentice Training

  • Five year program. The first three years will be conducted at the Brose headquarters in Auburn Hills and Mott Community College in Flint. The following two years will be working full time as a designer in a product group.
  • The program will include a rotation between different design groups within Brose to give you a broader experience. Your work and school schedule will be dependent on your school schedule to allow you time to study and gain work experience.
  • You will be exposed and trained on multiple design related subjects. This will include blue print reading, drafting, GD & T, Catia V5, design reviews, tolerance stacks, and time management. These skills will be reinforced during your work time at Brose by using them on the job as you acquire them at school.


  • Successfully attained a high school diploma.
  • Ability to demonstrate technical skills, teamwork skills, and communication skills.
  • Having a mechanical aptitude along with excellent math and computer skills.
  • Have an appreciation for an organized file management system, with detail oriented traits.
  • You need to be interested in working on computers daily, and the ability to follow verbal and written instructions.
