CTO celebrates 25 years with Brose
Thomas Spangler, Chief Technology Officer Brose Group, will celebrate his 25th anniversary with the company on 1 March. After studying material sciences, he began his career with the family-owned company by joining a junior staff development program in 1992.
Thomas Spangler first gained experience in industrial engineering. He accepted his first leadership role in 1994 as production manager at the Brose plant in Querétaro/Mexico. In 2001 he became the general manager of what was then the company’s largest location in Coburg. Four years later he was given responsibility for the Brose Group’s worldwide production sites and controlled central group functions. As Chief Operating Officer Production, Thomas Spangler also played a key role in the integration of the drives division in 2008.
In 2010 Thomas Spangler moved to China as President Brose Asia during Brose’s global expansion and played an essential part in the successful development of business in the region. By 2015 turnover in the region nearly tripled under his leadership from 400 million euros to almost 1.2 billion euros, while the number of people employed increased from 2,700 to approximately 4,400.
As CTO he has been responsible for global production and steering Advanced Development Brose Group, Quality, Logistics and Production Technology along with Facility Planning since 2015. His tasks include further increasing productivity and quality in the plants, building a worldwide Innovation Management system and pushing ahead with digitization. Thomas Spangler is also Deputy Chairman to the CEO of the Brose Group.
