BBL: Bamberg Baskets lose overtime thriller in Chemnitz

The Bamberg Baskets lost a thrilling game 98-99 in overtime against the NINERS Chemnitz. Despite a strong performance and 14 successful three-pointers, the hosts dominated the boards and scored 56 of their 99 points in the opponent's zone. Noah Locke was Bamberg's top scorer with 26 points, while KeyShawn Feazell recorded a double-double with 15 points and 10 rebounds. For the Saxons, Kevin Yebo also scored 26 points.
Head Coach Anton Gavel had to do without Ibrahim Watson, with Craig Moller moving into the starting lineup for him. Both teams started well, and after a balanced first quarter, the score was 25-25. In the second quarter, the Saxons managed to pull ahead slightly with 40-46, but Bamberg fought back to 47-50 by halftime. After the break, the Baskets managed to equalize, but a 9-0 run by Chemnitz gave them their highest lead of the afternoon. Nevertheless, the guests fought back again, and after three-pointers from Feazell and Locke, the score was 62-63. The hosts pulled away again, but a buzzer-beater from Ronaldo Segu brought the score to 67-72 after 30 minutes. Bamberg quickly reduced the deficit again in the final quarter, and at 87-87, the game went into overtime. In overtime, the game remained tight and nerve-wracking. Kyle Lofton put Bamberg ahead with 2:07 minutes left in overtime, but Chemnitz countered and were back in front with 1:19 minutes left. Ronaldo Segu reduced the score to 98-99 with 49 seconds left, and after Bamberg stopped the next Chemnitz attack, they had a chance to take the lead. However, Noah Locke's three-pointer with 10 seconds left did not go in, nor did Ronaldo Segu's last shot. The tension was palpable until the last second, but in the end, Bamberg had to accept a narrow defeat.
Next up for the Bamberg Baskets is an away game against the SEAWOLVES in the StadtHalle Rostock on Easter Sunday. Tip-off is at 3:00 PM.
