Basketball: Brave Coburg players are not rewarded

Coburg, 11-26-2023

After a fiercely contested game over the entire 40 minutes, BBC Coburg was narrowly beaten 100:104 by league leaders Rhöndorf in the end. Shooting guard Gabriel Kuku was Coburg's top scorer with 23 points and 6 assists. He was joined by Adrian Worthy with 15, Nico Höllerl with 13 and Kolten Mortensen with 12 points.

Head Coach Patrick Seidel: "First of all, many thanks to our fans! The atmosphere was great! It also carried us through some difficult phases. What we did completely differently during the week, which you could also see in the game today, was that we had a much higher tempo in training and therefore also a higher tempo in the game, especially in the first half. We slowed down a bit in the second half, but still managed to work Rhöndorf well in defence, but unfortunately as a small team we lost out on rebounds. But you can definitely see the progress we've made. A lot of players scored today who don't normally score so many points, which gives us confidence as a team. Of course, you'd rather win games like this by one, but in the end we can still be satisfied with our performance."

Both teams produced a real spectacle in offence, especially in the first half. As a result, they went into the break 61:55 ahead. The club from the Rhineland then stepped up a gear in defense in the second half. As a result, Coburg had to fight harder and harder for its points, but was still able to hold on to the Dragons. The score was tied at 79:79 going into the final period. Rhöndorf managed to carve out a small lead in this spell. The decisive factor here were the second chances the visitors repeatedly created. In the end, the Dragons took their narrow lead over the finishing line.

BBC Coburg's campaign continues next Sunday, 3 December. The Coburg team will then travel to Fellbach.
