Basketball: Collective team performance brings BBC Coburg another home win

Coburg, 12-09-2023

BBC Coburg deservedly defeated FC Bayern Basketball II by 102:88 in its last home game of the year. The BBC once again showed its fans some very respectable basketball, especially in offence, and broke the 100-point barrier at home for the second time in succession.

As in Fellbach last week, six players again scored in double figures. The BBC's top scorer was shooting guard Gabriel Kuku with 18 points, closely followed by point guard Adrian Petkovic with 16. In addition, the two import players Olamide Pedersen and Kolten Mortensen added 13 points each and the youngsters Adrian Worthy and Nico Höllerl contributed 11 points to the win.

Head Coach Patrick Seidel was visibly satisfied with his team after the game: "I think I'm repeating myself from the last two games, but our pace is much, much better than at the start of the season. We are winning games with a high attacking quality. I also rotated the players completely differently today because other players gave me a lot again today and that's the nice thing about the team. I can substitute any of the twelve or 16 players and everyone performs to their best. If one doesn't do it, the other does it and nobody is jealous of the other. It was another great team performance today and I really like what we're doing at the moment."

After an evenly poised first quarter, Coburg managed to open up a double-digit lead for the first time in the second period. The decisive factor was an 11:0 run by the home side midway through the second quarter, which was rounded off by a three from Nico Höllerl. As a result, the Coburg team stepped up the pace again after the break and built a 22-point lead at times. The BBC did not really let Munich get any closer and it was up to Adrian Petkovic, who put in a strong display, to score his 100th point with three minutes remaining. Coburg thus celebrated its fourth home win in its sixth home game and so closed the gap on the leaders in the ProB Süd.

BBC Coburg has two more away games on the programme at the end of the first half of the season. Coburg visits FRAPORT SKYLINERS Juniors next Sunday, 17 December, before travelling to Schwenningen to face the Black Forest Panthers on the day before Christmas Eve.
