Brose Bamberg also wins its second test game

Bamberg, 09-02-2018

Brose Bamberg also captured victory in its second pre-season warm-up game, defeating its easyCredit German Basketball League rivals Science City Jena by 89:60. All the Brose players used were able to get on the score sheet and four notched up a double-digit haul: Rice (13), Kulboka (12), Harris (10), Alexander (10). The home side also came out on top in the statistics for rebounding (39:35) and assists (25:15).

The first period was evenly balanced (20:16). Like against Heidelberg three days previously, Brose then stepped up its game in offense and defense in the second quarter. It took three-and-a-half minutes for Jena to make its first bucket from the floor. All in all, Bamberg kept its opponents down to eleven points and so 27 up to the break. The home side’s offense ticked over nicely, as it repeatedly played through its systems and finished them successfully. The result was a 43:27 lead at half-time.

Bamberg’s success continued in the third period, in particular in offense. And what was also striking: Brose hardly lost possession. In the end, it conceded eleven turnovers – which is definitely a satisfactory number for a test game with a newly formed team. Ainars Bagatskis’ players took the third period by 27:20 and hardly let their intensity slacken in the final period, either, even when youngsters were increasingly given time on court. Brose Bamberg ultimately coasted to a comfortable 89:60 win and so chalked up its second victory in its second test.
