Brose Motorsport: 40,000 rally fans in the Eifel

Daun, 07-23-2022

After a forced break of two years, 40,000 fans came to the Eifel Rally Festival in the Volcanic Eifel region of Rhineland-Palatinate for the tenth anniversary. 155 international teams presented their rally cars from over 50 years of motorsport history to the enthusiastic audience in hot and mostly dry weather. Michael Stoschek (Ahorn) and his co-driver Rüdiger Walz (Niederfüllbach), who stepped in at short notice, presented one of 20 Porsche 911 SC/RS cars built in 1984 for Group B homologation. The car in the design of the Rothmans cigarette brand was one of the crowd favorites of the expert spectators. On Thursday before the event, the track could be inspected and already the shakedown with its rutted gravel passages shaped the claim of the event.

The fans celebrated the Rothmans Porsche and the European champion at the wheel.

Cross-country driving is a must in the Eifel.

On Friday, the rally began on the market square in Daun with the start over the ramp. The commentator told the exciting story of the car. Two circuits with a total of 33 km were on the program.

Lots of dust and heat

Three more circuits followed on Saturday, again with a demanding mix of asphalt and coarse gravel that demanded a lot from the historic vehicles.

The reaction of the spectators both in the service park and on the track showed how much pleasure our perfectly prepared and spiritedly moved rally car gave not only the driver and co-driver, but also the audience.

The Slowly Sideways community alone was represented by more than 100 historic rally cars.

The next event for the Brose Motorsport team with the 4-valve BMW 2002, built in 1973, is the Rally Ostwestfalen on August 13.
