Formula Student Germany 2018: “CAT” team from Coburg on the podium

Many students learned about Brose products and hiring opportunities at the Brose booth.

Hockenheim, 08-12-2018

The Coburg Automobile Team, also known as “CAT”, finished third with its “C-18 Ocelot” in the overall classification of the Formula Student Germany design competition.

In this international competition for self-designed and built student race cars, the team with the best overall package of construction and racing performance, financial planning and sales arguments is the winner. Besides categories for vehicles with combustion engines (FSC) and electric drives (FSE), autonomously driving race cars (FSD) also compete.

Brose – Ready to perform!

Brose has been using this event since 2016 to present the company as an attractive employer and to make contacts with potential employees. “Formula Student Germany is an excellent platform for reaching precisely our target group: prospective future employees who are tech and car savvy,” explains Tina Rahnenführer from Human Resource Marketing.

One of the Greatest Successes in CAT History

The Coburg Automobile Team took third place overall in the FSC category. 57 other teams also competed in this category. The Coburg team took first place in two disciplines with its “C-18 Ocelot”: “Costs/production” and “Acceleration”. After a short break, CAT will travel to the Formula Student Spain in Barcelona from August 8 to 26.

Brose has been assisting the Coburg Automobile Team (CAT) as a main sponsor since last season. The company gives students opportunities to acquire practical experience in design, manufacturing and management.

“FSG Academy” Workshop

In a workshop, Martin Tupy and Michael Buchheim (both of Simulation/Development in the Brose Group) worked together with students in the area of “Boosting the development process with simulation” to see how simulation and model-based systems technology can be helpful in developing a race car.

Go Kart Event

The automotive supplier held a drawing among the 3,500 students at the Hockenheimring for a go-kart event on Friday of the FSG Week in Mannheim. After an open training period, the 40 students competed in time trials, the results of which were used to assign them to teams. In the 60-minute team racing event that followed, the students competed for places on the podium. Off the track, the Brose Human Resources team advised students about internships, work-study opportunities, thesis projects and direct hiring.
