Ferndorf

HC Erlangen also impresses on the road

Ferndorf, 10-25-2015

After three home games in a row, HC Erlangen also defeated TuS Ferndorf on the road. The team of Head Coach Robert Andersson won 30:23 (15:10) and has consolidated its leading position in the table.

The club from Central Franconia got into the game right away, was uncompromising in defense and had two players in attack who made the difference: Ole Rahmel and Nikolai Link. HC Erlangen dictated the game from the outset and never surrendered the lead from the fifth minute on. The home side from the Siegerland region, who was undefeated at home going into the game, closed the gap to one goal midway through the first half, but never really posed any danger for the HCE. The visitors stepped up a gear shortly before half-time and, thanks to four straight goals, stretched the gap to 15:10.

After the break, HC Erlangen showed it is also able to control a game and hold a result by means of intelligent move-building and carving out clear chances. TuS Ferndorf was never able to get into contention in the second half – the German league side from Franconia was simply too strong. The HCE was thus able to win in the Siegerland by a deserved margin and can now look forward to the second Franconian derby in a month.

The Wolves from Rimpar come to the Nürnberger Versicherung Arena next Saturday and so the region can expect another handball highlight.

Robert Andersson commented: “We had great respect going into the game here in Ferndorf. My players were very impressive today and controlled the game from the outset.”
