.
Küps, 06-24-2018

Thrilling sport, packed stands and a brilliant mood characterized the tournament at the Tannleite at Küps Riding Club. Maximilian Weißhaupt from Jettingen and local hero Hans-Peter Konle triumphed.

Top-class sport was not only offered in the eight show-jumping contests in the “Difficult” (S) class. The crowd was especially excited when watching local hero Hans-Peter Konle – and it was also rewarded. He won in three difficult contests. In the first S** on Friday afternoon, he left 48 competitors in his wake. His horse Quick Stepp lived up to its name with a lightning fast round to clinch victory ahead of Philipp Schober. In the qualifier for the Nürnberger Versicherung Bavarian Championship, likewise a class S** contest, on Saturday afternoon, “Hansi” Konle took the lead on his mare Queensberry. Then Simone Blum on her gray Cool Hill rode a determined round to move in front. Yet Hans-Peter Konle had a second ace up his sleeve with Quick Stepp and captured first and third place on the winners’ rostrum, amassing points for the finale at Consumenta in Nuremberg.

The class S puissance, which was held under floodlights on the Saturday, offered unadulterated excitement. The wall height in the third jump-off was a hefty two meters. Maximilian Weißhaupt from Jettingen was the only one who managed to clear it and so captured victory in front of an impressive crowd.

Maximilian Weißhaupt continued his success on the Sunday: He triumphed again in a class S*** contest sponsored by the Brose Group with prize money of €10,000. “That was the first time we’ve entered Con Caya, my home-bred and just eight-year-old Bavarian mare, in a Grand Prix and she won right away. I’m speechless and over the moon!” said Maximilian Weißhaupt in an interview afterwards. Only five of the 39 pairs had a clear round and produced a thrilling jump-off. Michael Stoschek, Chairman of the Brose Group and himself a very successful show jumper, was inspired by the quality of the show jumping and congratulated Weißhaupt on his impressive performance.
