Tennis: Best German doubles team splits up

Paris, 11-06-2022

The successful German tennis doubles Kevin Krawietz and Andreas Mies will go their separate ways from the coming season.

The two-time French Open winners made the announcement on social media on Sunday evening. "After four unforgettable years, the time has now come to turn over a new leaf," Mies wrote on Instagram.

Krawietz will go on tour in the new season together with his Davis Cup partner Tim Pütz (Frankfurt), the Cologne-based Mies (32) will compete with Australian John Peers.Krawietz and Mies had played their first tournament together in August 2017, and in 2019 and 2020 they won the French Open. "I will remember many moments. I hope for not so many encounters, and if only in the final," Krawietz wrote on Instagram.

On Saturday, the doubles had failed in the semifinals at the Masters in Paris and thus missed the last ticket for the ATP Finals in Turin (November 13-20).
