Tennis: "Kramies" fail in the quarterfinals

For Coburg tennis pro Kevin Krawietz and his doubles partner Andreas Mies from Cologne, the quarterfinals of the Astana Open in Kazakhstan were over. Despite leading the set, the German duo lost 6:3, 4:6 and 8:10 to the third-seeded doubles team of Marcel Granollers and Horacio Zeballos.

After their opening win against Argentina's Francisco Cerúndolo / Andrés Molteni, Krawietz / Mies seemed to pick up where they left off in the round of 16. They took the first two services from the Spanish-Argentinean combination, were 4:0 ahead and won the first set 6:3.

In the second set, the German doubles had big problems to keep their level. With the first set point, Granollers / Zeballos secured the second set, in which the Germans were too careless, especially in their own service games. After one hour and 45 minutes, a missed backhand by Krawietz sealed the end.
