Kurt Sauernheimer

CEO Brose Group / Door Systems Division

Kurt Sauernheimer (58) is CEO of the Brose Group effective 1 January 2018. He will also continue to head up the door systems business division with the Door Modules and Access & Closure Systems product groups.

After graduating with a joint degree in business administration and engineering from Aalen University of Applied Sciences, Kurt Sauernheimer joined Brose as a sales engineer in 1987. From 1993 to 1999 he was in charge of the corporate group’s purchasing activities. He has headed the door systems business division since 1999.

Thomas Spangler

Central Division Technology

Since 1 July 2015, Thomas Spangler (53) has been Chief Technology Officer Brose Group (with the group functions Development, Quality, Logistics and Production Technology and the plants worldwide) with additional responsibility for the markets China and East Asia. He is also deputy to Kurt Sauernheimer.

Thomas Spangler graduated with a degree in material sciences from Friedrich-Alexander University, Erlangen-Nürnberg. He joined the Brose Group as a trainee in 1992 and later headed production activities at the Querétaro plant in Mexico from 1994 to 1998. Thomas Spangler was the general manager of the Coburg plant until 2005. He was Executive Vice President of Production and thus responsible for production facilities worldwide from July 2005 to June 2010. As President Brose Asia, he made a significant contribution to business development between 2010 and 2015 in the most important growth region in the automotive industry and increased turnover there from around 400 million to over 1 billion euros.

Volker Herdin

Commercial Administration

Volker Herdin (54) has been responsible for Commercial Administration in the Brose Group since 1 July 2012: Controlling, Finance, Taxes, Information Systems and Legal.

Volker Herdin studied business administration and engineering at the Würzburg-Schweinfurt University of Applied Sciences. He began his career with Brose in 1995 as a product controller at the Coburg location.

In 1996 Volker Herdin moved to Brose’s North American headquarters in Detroit/USA. Following a variety of leadership responsibilities, he took over Commercial Administration for the North America region in 1999. Herdin has been responsible for the drives business division’s commercial administration activities since 2008.

Periklis Nassios

Central Division Purchasing

Periklis Nassios (56) is Executive Vice President Purchasing Brose Group effective 1 January 2018.

A native of Greece, he graduated with a degree in mechanical engineering from Darmstadt University of Applied Sciences and joined Brose in 1991 as a project manager responsible for French OEM sales. In 1997, he became a customer team director supporting different automakers and seat producers and he was also deputy to the head of seat adjusters from 2001. He was responsible for the seat systems business division from 2006 to 2017.

Jörg Schwitalla

Central Division Human Resources

Jörg Schwitalla (56) took over the Central Division Human Resources Brose Group on 1 October 2016. He studied business administration at the University of Applied Sciences in Gießen and has over 30 years of professional experience in human resources. Throughout his career, he has held a variety of executive and management board positions in international companies.

Reinhard Kretschmer

Drives business division

Reinhard Kretschmer (62) has been in charge of the drives business division since the acquisition of the electric motors division on 1 April 2008. This includes products for thermal management, drive train actuators, chassis and steering as well as the vehicle interior/exterior.

Reinhard Kretschmer studied physics at Philipps University in Marburg. He has more than 20 years of managerial experience working for leading international corporations in Germany and abroad. Before joining Brose, Kretschmer was responsible for the electric motor drives division at Continental AG.

Sandro Scharlibbe

Seat Systems Business Division

Sandro Scharlibbe (47) is Executive Vice President Seat Systems Brose Group effective 1 January 2018, and is responsible for products such as front and rear seat structures, seat components and adjustment systems for the vehicle interior.

Sandro Scharlibbe has a degree in business administration from Coburg University of Applied Sciences and joined Brose in 1996 as a salesperson. From 2010 to 2012, after having held a number of managerial positions in the seat systems business division, he was responsible for drives development/purchasing (window regulators, seat and closure systems). Prior to his appointment to the executive management board in July 2012, he was Vice President Purchasing of the Brose Group. He was head of global procurement management in the Brose Group from 2012 to 2017, which generated a purchasing volume of around 5 billion euros last year.
