Mannheim Maimarktturnier: Schmitz wins prize of Brose SE

Mannheim , 05-07-2024

Since 1964, the Maimarkt Tournament has been one of the most important horse shows for German and European equestrian sport. In addition to the international show jumping and dressage competitions at 4* level, national dressage and show jumping competitions up to advanced level are also held. Around 260 riders came to Mannheim from May 2 to 7 to compete at the 60th anniversary of the traditional tournament.

The final of the Youngsters Tour was on the program on the final day. 35 horse-rider pairs had qualified for the Brose SE Prize. 15 of them completed the demanding 1.45m jumping test without any faults and reached the jump-off.

Here, Swiss rider Edouard Schmitz, who had saddled the 7-year-old KWPN stallion Maestro, came out on top with a penalty-free ride and an impressive time of just 37.78 seconds and received the Brose SE prize of honor: an e-bike with Brose drive.

The lucky winner received the prize from Michael Stoschek, grandson of the company founder and himself a successful show jumper, having won two Bavarian and four Franconian championships. Schmitz then took the opportunity to lead the lap of honor on his bike.
