Globally networked for more sustainability

Dr. Alexander Löhner in an interview situation.

Dr. Alexander Löhner, Chief Corporate Responsibility Officer at Brose, strives for a lively exchange on the topic of sustainability.

Bamberg, 07-03-2025

For over four years, our family-owned company has been involved in the "Automotive Industry Dialogue" - together with German car manufacturers, leading suppliers and the German government - to strengthen human rights due diligence in global supply and value chains. From July, the project initiated by the Federal Ministry of Labor and Social Affairs will be integrated into the UN Global Compact of the United Nations. This creates a new platform for cross-national and cross-sector dialogue between companies, civil society organizations, science and politics - with the common goal of promoting an inclusive and sustainable economy, today and in the future.

Responsible action and the conscious use of natural resources are values that we live by and are firmly anchored in the structure of our family business. As Chief Corporate Responsibility Officer, Dr. Alexander Löhner is responsible for sustainability at Brose. Together with his team, he has defined four key areas of action in which we identify and implement targeted measures to promote sustainable business practices.

Graphic of our four fields of action in sustainability

Focus on human rights

Respect for human rights along global supply and value chains is one of the core topics of the UN Global Compact - and of central importance to Brose. "Regardless of regulatory requirements, implementing human rights due diligence in the supply chain is essential for us. This is the only way to identify risks early on and strengthen long-term partnerships," explains Alexander Löhner. Our focus here is on open, trusting exchange with other companies, associations and trade unions. "We are convinced that practical solutions - for example for risk analyses or effective preventive measures - are primarily developed through joint dialog."

Balancing ecology, economy and social topics

Our aim is to reduce our ecological footprint, strengthen our competitiveness and keep a close eye on social aspects - particularly in the supply chain. This is a complex task that we are tackling with great determination. Alexander Löhner is confident: "Our employees are our greatest strength. Whether in development or in the central departments - everyone is highly motivated to find concrete solutions for sustainable action. We actively promote internal dialog and make use of any synergies that arise."
