French Open: Last stop in the round of 16

Paris, 06-03-2024

One day after their opening win against Diego Hidalgo (Ecuador)/Alejandro Tabilo (Chile) on Friday, Krawietz and Pütz were already through to the last 16 of the French Open as they progressed without a fight following the withdrawal of the German duo Hanfmann/Koepfer.

There they faced Mate Pavic (Croatia)/Marcelo Arevalo (El Salvador), against whom they lost in two sets in a thrilling match. In the first set of an evenly matched contest, both teams showed strong serving and only allowed a few break chances. In the tiebreak, however, Krawietz/Pütz gave up their serve four times and lost 3:7.

The second set also came down to a tie-break after both duos were able to take their opponents' serve once. In the end, a 7:5 score sealed the end of the tournament for the top German doubles team.
