Nürburgring 24 Hours: Tiago Monteiro in the Top 10
At the wheel of a Porsche 992 GT3 Cup and alongside Jan Jaap van Roon, Tom Coronel and Paul Meijer, Portuguese racing driver Tiago Monteiro completed his fourth participation in the legendary German race.
After a good start, the first half of the race went according to plan against the strong competition and the team was able to hold its own in the midfield from the start on the demanding track. However, the weather plays a decisive role in a race through the green hell of the Eifel. Shortly after midnight, the race had to be interrupted due to heavy fog and increasingly poor visibility.
As the fog did not clear, the race could not be continued due to the high safety risk. As a result, this year's shortest 24-hour race on the Nordschleife ended after just eight hours with a seventh place for the team led by the Brose-supported touring car professional.
“We had hoped for a longer race, but we know that something like this can happen. It's just a bit of a shame because we had a strong team and a strong car. We were very confident of achieving a good result at the front. We all know the Green Hell and how unpredictable it is. Nevertheless, it is always a challenge and a pleasure to drive on this amazing track - a real rollercoaster. I am very proud of our work as a team. I would like to thank everyone for their hard work and team spirit,” said Tiago Monteiro after the race.
