ATP Finals: Krawietz/Pütz in the semi-finals

The German Davis Cup doubles team of Kevin Krawietz and Tim Pütz have reached the semi-finals of the ATP Finals in Turin ahead of schedule after another strong performance. Krawietz has once again written a small piece of tennis history.

The US Open finalists defeated the local heroes Simone Bolelli/Andrea Vavassori on Wednesday with nerves of steel 7:5, 6:4 and silenced the vociferous Italian fans in the arena.Never before had a German doubles team reached the final round in the 55-year history of the finals. "I've been there a few times but never in the semi-finals. That's why I brought the Pützi with me," said Krawietz with a laugh: "It's great fun here. We are very happy."

Krawietz has been at the season finale three times (2019 to 2021), but has never made it past the group stage. Their last group opponents on Friday are the still winless and already eliminated Australian Open champions Rohan Bopanna/Matthew Ebden (India/Australia).
