2nd BBL: BBC Coburg Wins in a Nail-Biter!

With a score of 69:65 (35:20), BBC Coburg defeated the Porsche Basketball Academy from Ludwigsburg on the 18th matchday of the 2nd Basketball Bundesliga ProB South. The Vestestädter had the game under control for three quarters before the Ludwigsburg team launched a comeback in the final quarter. However, the guests couldn't land the decisive punch. The top scorer for BBC was Norwegian Tobias Rotegaard with 22 points. Additionally, big man Ben Diederichs recorded a strong double-double with 19 points and twelve rebounds, just like in the first leg.

The hosts started well and won the first quarter 21:6. The team of Patrick Seidel continued to dominate in the second quarter. In a game with few offensive highlights, the Coburg team repeatedly set important accents to keep the guests from the Baroque city at a distance. After a steal and the subsequent layup, BBC top scorer Tobias Rotegaard set the halftime score at 35:20. The change of sides initially did not change the prevailing conditions. Ludwigsburg tried a lot offensively, but little to nothing worked. Midway through the third quarter, Coburg's sharpshooter Rotegaard, who netted four three-pointers that evening, extended the lead to 19 points. Despite the efforts of Ludwigsburg's top scorer Dominykas Pleta, who ended up with a strong 28 points, the Coburg lead remained stable until the start of the final quarter. But out of nowhere, the guests, who had not scored more than 14 points in any quarter before, suddenly caught fire. With an 11:0 run, Ludwigsburg entered the final quarter and reduced the score to 50:45. Despite the Ludwigsburg run, it seemed as if the Coburg team remained calm. BBC responded shortly after with an 8:0 run of their own. With just over two minutes left, Coburg led 66:54. However, the Basketball Academy did not give up and reduced the score to 66:63 with 60 seconds remaining. But Ludwigsburg couldn't get any closer, and BBC secured the victory from the free-throw line to the delight of the 600 fans.

Next Saturday, February 15, BBC will host the youth team of FC Bayern Basketball at the Coburg HUK Arena. Tip-off is at 7:00 PM.
