Australian Open: End at the quarterfinals

A win for the Davis Cup doubles team of Krawietz/Pütz in the men's doubles on Wednesday would have secured their place in the semi-finals. However, they were knocked out in the quarter finals against the Italians Andrea Vavasori/Simone Bolelli. They defeated the German tennis doubles team 7:5, 6:4, ending their goal of reaching the semi-finals at the Australian Open.

Kevin Krawietz and his partner Nicole Melichar-Martinez were also eliminated in the mixed quarter finals on Tuesday. The Coburg-born player and the US-American lost to the Taiwanese-Polish combination Su-Wie Hsieh/Jan Zielinski at the tennis tournament in Melbourne by a surprisingly clear 2:6, 3:6.
