BBL: Another Home Victory for the Bamberg Baskets!

Bamberg, 02-09-2025

On the 20th matchday in the BBL, the Bamberg Baskets delivered another strong performance on their home court. In the home game against the EWE Baskets Oldenburg, Head Coach Anton Gavel's team won convincingly and deservedly with a score of 103:85 (57:41), thus reestablishing their connection to the play-in spots in the standings.

Both teams started the game highly motivated. Quickly, both Oldenburg and Bamberg found their rhythm, leading to an entertaining match. The lead changed hands eleven times in the first quarter alone. At the beginning of the second quarter, the nearly four and a half thousand spectators saw a similar picture to the start of the game. Both teams remained on equal footing, and the game was completely open at 29:29 and 33:33. Then, Adrian Petković made the unique atmosphere in the BROSE ARENA, which had been remarkable since the last home win against MBC, even louder by sinking a three-pointer to make it 38:33. This seemed to give the Bamberg team an extra boost. Kyle Lofton then turned up the heat, scoring 11 points in just 2:24 minutes, bringing his team to a 51:37 lead. The first Bamberg basket in the second half was an absolute Bundesliga premiere: With the shot clock running down, Filip Stanić received the ball behind the three-point line and made his first BBL three-pointer. Noah Locke and Ibi Watson followed with two more three-pointers, and the Bamberg Baskets had the game under control. Even in the final quarter, the Bamberg team did not let up and extended their lead further. In the end, it was a thoroughly deserved home victory for Bamberg, with Adrian Petković scoring the 100th point from the free-throw line 27 seconds before the end.

On Wednesday, the Bamberg Baskets will host the FIT/One Würzburg Baskets for the Franconian Derby. Tip-off is at 8:00 PM.
