BBL: Bamberg Secures Away Victory in Frankfurt!

Frankfurt, 09-29-2024

Thanks to a cohesive team effort and great commitment, the Bamberg Baskets won their away game against the SKYLINERS FRANKFURT. The team, led by Head Coach Anton Gavel, put in a strong performance in the Süwag Energie ARENA, filled with 4,920 spectators, winning the rebound duel 46:34 and the game against the Hessians. In a game that was overall very low in points, Bamberg won 58:66 (32:30) and took their first victory of the season back home.

Two days before the away game, Bamberg responded to the absence of Noah Locke by signing MaCio Teague. Managing Director Höhne and Coach Anton Gavel brought in a guard who had already gotten to know the league in Oldenburg during the 2022/23 season. Teague integrated well into the team in Frankfurt, especially defensively – the American impressively stole the ball from a Frankfurt player four times. Overall, Bamberg’s defense was very strong. In no quarter did Frankfurt, who had scored 100 points against Göttingen on the first matchday, score more than 15 points. Although Frankfurt led 11:7 after four minutes, the Gavel team turned the game around with a 9:0 run and did not let Frankfurt take the lead again until the end of the game. Although the Hessians stayed close until the middle of the third quarter (41:41), thanks to top scorers Kyle Lofton and Ronaldo Segu (both 11 points), Bamberg pulled ahead decisively to 45:57. Also impressive was the season debut of center Filip Stanic, who secured ten rebounds in addition to nine points.

On Wednesday, October 2, 2024 (8:00 PM), the Bamberg Baskets will start in the international ENBL (European North Basketball League) against Dinamo Bukarest.
