BBL: Clear Defeat for Bamberg in Ludwigsburg

The Bamberg Baskets suffered an away defeat against the MHP RIESEN Ludwigsburg on Sunday afternoon. In the sold-out MHP Arena with 4000 spectators, the team lost 73:92 (38:49).
Right from the start, Bamberg struggled against the hosts. The RIESEN quickly took control on the court, and after just 3:25 minutes, the hosts were clearly in front following a three-pointer by Yorman Polas Bartolo. Anton Gavel took his first timeout, and his team quickly responded with a three-pointer by Ronaldo Segu and a dunk by Ibi Watson. With these four points behind, they went into the first quarter break. At the beginning of the second quarter, the guests seemed to have found their rhythm, and after a three-pointer by Moritz Krimmer, they were back to 24:25. However, the RIESEN then pulled away again, and due to many second chances, John Patrick's team was able to extend their lead. 3:25 minutes before halftime, Justin Simon's three-pointer gave the hosts their first double-digit lead (31:42), which they took into halftime (38:49). Little changed after the break. The Bamberg Baskets were trailing 56:73 after thirty minutes. The result didn't change much in the final quarter. The Ludwigsburg team continued to dominate the boards and maintained their lead confidently. 3:53 minutes before the final buzzer, Joel Scott's free throw gave the RIESEN their largest lead (63:86). There was no doubt about the deserved home win for Ludwigsburg (73:92) even before that.
On January 21st, Bamberg has the opportunity to secure their first win of the year at home against Basket Brno in the ENBL. Tip-off is at 19:00.
