Brose Motorsport at the Cento Ore Modena rally

Three tracks

Modena, 06-09-2018

The Modena Cento Ore is a combination of track races and rally trials. The teams competed over a distance of more than 1,200 km over five days on some of Lombardy’s most scenic roads, the Emilia Romagna. The rally took participants from Monza, via Salsomaggiore Terme and Forte dei Marmi to Florence and from there to the finish on the Piazza Grande in Modena, where the winners’ ceremony was staged.

Three races were held on the legendary Monza, Varano and Mugello tracks and 12 rally trials on closed-off mountain roads, some of which were extremely narrow.

Ten trials in the Cento Ore Modena

110 teams lined up at the start: 79 in the Competition section and 31 in the Regularity section.

Michael Stoschek (Coburg) and Dieter Hawranke (Kassel) started in a 1965 2.0-liter Porsche, since the times clocked were multiplied by a coefficient for the vehicle’s age and so older cars had an advantage.

Michael Stoschek came 30th overall in the first track race at Monza. However, the Porsche’s ignition failed in the second race in Varano and the car remained on the grid. The time penalty for that was around 8 minutes. On the track in Mugello, Michael Stoschek – like many of his fellow competitors – overlooked a yellow flag while overtaking and incurred another penalty, this time of 10 minutes, which meant the team dropped back to 50th place.

Although Stoschek/Hawranke landed well up in the field in all the other special trials, they only managed to finish 27th overall after allowing for the coefficient, but did manage to win the GTS11 class.
