The automotive supplier Brose has aided a charity campaign by “Sportler helfen” (“Athletes Help”) with a donation of €10,000. The check was presented to the Burgholz Children’s and Youth Hospice by Heiko Heise, Plant Manager at Brose Wuppertal, and members of the initiative after a joint cycle tour on Sunday, September 16.

Before that, the initiators of “Athletes Help”, Martin Czieklinski and Maik Kaufmann, completed an obstacle course consisting of five truck trailers and Euro pallets on their mountain bikes at Brose’s car park in Ronsdorf. The two extreme athletes managed to complete 1,174 laps in five hours. In exchange, the family-owned company donated the sum of €10,000. “It’s amazing what ideas the two athletes keep on coming up with to support social projects – and what they’re willing to do as part of that,” said a delighted Heiko Heise. “It’s simply inspiring to see the ambition, resolve and passion with which they overcome extreme challenges – and we as a family-owned company are happy to be able to support the important work the Children’s and Youth Hospice does.”

Czieklinski and Kaufmann founded the initiative “Athletes Help” ten years ago. Since then, they have tackled sporting challenges in order to raise donations, which exclusively benefit local institutions, organizations, associations and private persons suffering hardship. For example, Czieklinski completed a triathlon after just ten months of preparation, the two idea generators staged a 24-hour mountain bike race in a car showroom, and they pedaled in a five-hour spinning marathon on a truck. “Athletes Help” has so far raised more than €100,000 for social causes.
