Christian Engelhart: An almost perfect weekend

Spielberg, 05-22-2016

Christian Engelhart had set himself ambitious goals for the weekend of racing in Spielberg – and was able to achieve them. The pilot from Kösching captured a place on the rostrum twice – winning once and finishing second – to retake the overall lead in the championship. He is now tied for first place with his biggest rival for the title.Chris

“Things turned out exactly as I’d hoped,”, is how Christian summarized the Saturday. His commanding victory on the 4.3-kilometer roller-coaster of an alpine course earned him a vital extra 20 points toward his tally. “Winning on the Saturday means the championship is open again. That was important. As a result, it’s in my own hands to win the title and I can now impose my will instead of having to react.” Christian was able to follow up his win on the Sunday with a second-place finish and draw level with his rival Sven Müller on 101 points after the weekend of racing in Spielberg. That is a fine springboard to also get back to winning ways in the second championship this weekend.

“Of course, this will give me a boost going into the races in Monaco. Racing there is always something special and I’ve got quite a few amends to make in the Porsche Supercup after I screwed up in the season opener last week. I’m brimming with confidence. Now I aim to go full out on the attack on Monaco’s roads.”

Christian’s next races:

May 27–29: Porsche Mobil 1 Supercup, Monte Carlo (MC)

June 3–5: ADAC GT Masters and Porsche Carrera Cup Germany, Lausitzring (D)

June 24–26: Porsche Mobil 1 Supercup, Spielberg (A)
