Christian Engelhart captures third victory in the battle for the runner-up spot

Hockenheim, 09-15-2019

His third win on a Saturday means Christian Engelhart has moved into second in the ADAC GT Masters. The victory in Hockenheim means he and his teammate Mirko Bortolotti have the best cards in the tussle for second place in the series going into its finale at the Sachsenring.

Christian Engelhart and Mirko Bortolotti in the Grasser Racing Team’s Lamborghini Huracan GT3 Evo have now chalked up three wins after the weekend of racing at Hockenheim – a record that no other car has been able to outdo this year. As a result of this latest victory and the further important points, the duo are now second overall in the ADAC GT Masters ahead of the final weekend.

The Lamborghini squad was again able to take the checkered flag in first place on Saturday in Hockenheim and also followed that up with a strong performance on the Sunday, finishing eighth and so picking up vital points for the championship – despite having a 30 kg Success Ballast on board as a result of the win the day before. That meant Christian and Mirko captured the biggest haul of points of all the drivers this weekend in this tightly contested championship.

“It was another strong weekend for us – and so we’re jubilant about the third ADAC GT Masters win in a row. Of course, that says volumes about our team – not only the pilots, but above all the entire Grasser Racing and Lamborghini crew. However, I’d also like to take this opportunity to congratulate Kelvin van der Linde and Patric Niederhauser and the HCB-Rutronik team, who managed to clinch the title in Hockenheim even before the final weekend. They’re great opponents and we also look forward to competing with them in the future.”

The final races in the ADAC GT Masters at the Sachsenring clash with the finale of the Blancpain GT Series in Barcelona and so a final decision has yet to be taken about where Christian and his GRT team will line up.

“Going into the final race, we’re in second in the ADAC GT Masters and third in the Blancpain GT Series. So the decision about where we’ll compete isn’t an easy one.”
