Christian Engelhart lines up as a Lamborghini works pilot in 2017
The new year comes with a change of scenery: Christian Engelhart will line up as a works pilot for Lamborghini Squadra Corse for the first time in his career. That means he numbers among those pilots who act as an ambassador for the Lamborghini brand on and alongside the track and play a strong part in development work. Christian will again compete in 2017 together with the Grasser Racing Team (GRT) in the ADAC GT Masters – and will additionally take part in the international Blancpain GT Series (Sprint and Endurance).
“It’s a special honor for me to drive for Lamborghini this year. It’s an even bigger incentive to translate the trust placed in me into successes. I regard this step as a mission to chalk up wins for this traditional brand on international tracks and look forward to the challenge.”
Christian Engelhart has thus defined his objective for 2017 and, like last year, can rely on the strength of the Grasser Racing Team, with which he has already notched up two wins. The Bavarian driver again aims to gel together with teammate Rolf Ineichen and fellow works pilots Mirko Bortolotti and Andrea Caldarelli and capture first victories at the season opener, the Blancpain Sprint Series in Misano on the weekend of April 1 and 2.
In 2017, Christian can once again count on his long-standing partners who are continuing to support the three-times runner-up in the Porsche Carrera Cup Germany. Christian will act as brand ambassador for the global automotive supplier Brose on the track and at special events.
“I’m incredibly grateful for this commitment to motor sport and to the long-standing support from my friends from the international luxury brand La Biosthetique. I’m proud that the cooperation with my partners has lasted all these years and will continue in the next step in my career. This loyalty from my sponsors and partners is by no means commonplace. For that reason alone, I believe it's my obligation to put the company and its values in the limelight as often as possible by capturing places on the rostrum and leading positions on the track.”
The main race in the season opener in Misano will be broadcast live on TV by Eurosport on Sunday, April 2, 2017, at 12:30 p.m. and streamed on the Internet at www.blancpain-gt-series.com.
