Davis Cup: Journey Ends in the Semifinals

The German tennis team missed out on the Davis Cup final. In the semifinals of the prestigious national competition, the team led by national coach Michael Kohlmann lost 0-2 to the Netherlands.
Daniel Altmaier, after saving eight match points, lost 4-6, 7-6 (14:12), 3-6 to Botic van de Zandschulp. In the second singles match of the evening, Jan-Lennard Struff was defeated by Tallon Griekspoor 7-6 (7:4), 5-7, 4-6.
In the absence of top star Alexander Zverev, the DTB team had a chance for the greatest success in recent decades against an evenly matched opponent. However, the final remained a dream, just as it did in 2021 when they lost 1-2 to Russia. Nevertheless, reaching the semifinals of this significant tournament was a success.
Kevin Krawietz and Tim Pütz, who sensationally won the ATP Finals in Turin a week earlier, did not play, just as in the quarterfinals against Canada.
Italy won the Davis Cup.
