Difficult rally weekend in Germany for Dinkel/Fürst

Saarland, 08-25-2019

After a positive two-day test, the Brose Rallye Team Dominik Dinkel / Christina Fürst entered the "ADAC Rallye Deutschland", part of the World Rally Championship (WRC), with high expectations. But already in the shakedown unusual problems appeared on their Brose Hyundai i20 R5, which could never be eliminated permanently by the technical crew of the Sarrazin Motorsport team despite all their efforts.

"After the two test days we were really happy with the handling, we felt absolutely comfortable in our Brose Hyundai i20 R5. But already in the shakedown – the last test possibility before the start - the positive feeling was completely gone. The car suddenly reluctantly turned in, understeered strongly. When accelerating out of the corner, the rear tended to break out unpredictably. Fast times are not to be driven in such a way. Added to this was play in the steering, which could only be eliminated at short notice even by completely replacing it. An early spin and a puncture in the Arena Panzerplatte were not helpful either, but in the end, they weigh much less heavily than the setup and other technical problems," concludes pilot Dominik Dinkel (26, Rossach).

Despite the numerous handicaps mentioned above, the Brose Rallye Team is fully committed, bravely fighting its way through the four rally days with their 19 best time stages (SS) over a total of 344.01 kilometres. With a firm will to hold on, they get the maximum out of the difficult situation that has arisen, finish the ADAC Rallye Deutschland in 21st place of the overall standings and are the eleventh best participants in the huge field of the 29 R5 vehicles that started.

Dominik Dinkel and Christina Fürst (32, Tiefenbach near Passau) remain valuable asphalt experiences on stages with totally different character. "No one can take that away from us anymore. And somehow driving a car that doesn't function optimally also fits in well with our self-imposed learning year," the two likeable motorsport drivers agree. They are now looking straight ahead. To the two final competitions. These are the Mont-Blanc Morzine Rally (Sept. 5 to 7) and the ADAC 3-Städte-Rallye (Oct. 17 to 19) in the Bavarian Forest.

"There we will give our best again, fully motivated. On the one hand to show what we’ve learned in the 2019 season. And on the other hand, to thank our patron Michael Stoschek, Brose, all other sponsors as well as our numerous, faithful fans and friends for the great support they have given us, without which our missions would be completely unthinkable". So the big thank you and the clear future announcement of the Brose Rallye Team Dominik Dinkel / Christina Fürst.
