ENBL: Bamberg Baskets Qualify for Play-Offs!

Bamberg, 01-21-2025

The Bamberg Baskets secured second place in the group stage of the ENBL with a 90:70 (49:38) victory against Basket Brno. Despite the clear result, the hosts had to endure a tense game, especially since Kyle Lofton, Kevin Wohlrath, and Karsten Tadda all had to leave the game due to injuries in the third quarter.

Bamberg started strong with three-pointers from Noah Locke and Ibrahim Watson, as well as a spectacular dunk from Brandon Horvath. After ten minutes, the hosts were leading 27:17. However, Brno fought back, reducing the deficit to five points (37:32) and forcing Coach Anton Gavel to call a timeout. Top scorer KeyShawn Feazell managed to score twice under Brno's basket just before halftime, bringing the score to 49:38. The third quarter was very unfortunate for Bamberg. First, Brno closed the gap to 52:50, then within 21 seconds, Kyle Lofton, Karsten Tadda, and Kevin Wohlrath were injured and could not continue playing. It was only in the final quarter that the depleted Gavel team regained their dominance. Bamberg started the fourth quarter with a 12:0 run and allowed only seven points in defense in the last ten minutes. Top scorer Feazell, along with playmaker Ronaldo Segu, Noah Locke, and Ibrahim Watson, sealed the deal for Bamberg. Newcomer Craig Moller hit his first three-pointer to secure the final score of 90:70.

On Sunday, January 26, 2025, the Gavel team will face the German champions Bayern Munich in the final match of the Bundesliga first half. The game at BMW-Park will start at 3:00 PM.
