ENBL: Bamberg Defeats the Current Champion!

The Bamberg Baskets are almost certainly in the ENBL playoffs after a hard-fought 87:81 (50:46) home victory against defending champions Bakken Bears. In front of 3,122 spectators at the BROSE Arena, the hosts delivered a solid performance, securing their fifth win in six preliminary round games. This marks the fourth consecutive victory for Bamberg.
Noah Locke celebrated a strong comeback after a three-month injury break. The 25-year-old scored seven points in nine minutes of play and impressed with strong defensive work. After a shaky start, the Baskets dominated from the third quarter onwards thanks to improved defense. It would have been interesting to hear what Anton Gavel told his team in the locker room for the second half. After the break, Bamberg appeared much more aggressive. With intense pressing and several steals, they put the Danes under pressure and temporarily pulled ahead by 16 points. The guests from Aarhus, led by Terrence Hargrove and EJ Dambreville, remained combative and came dangerously close in the final minutes with a zone press (83:80). However, a secure mid-range shot by Segu 33 seconds before the end sealed the victory.
On Sunday, December 22, the Bamberg team will face league leaders MLP Academics Heidelberg in the BBL. Tip-off is at 3:00 PM.
