ENBL: Bamberg wins in Warsaw!

The Bamberg Baskets took a big step towards the playoffs on the 5th matchday of the European North Basketball League. In the away game against Legia Warsaw, the Bamberger team won 73:87 (32:39) on Wednesday evening in front of 1,100 spectators at the OSiR Bemowo sports complex, climbing to 3rd place in Group B.
Anton Gavel's team started the game very focused and quickly took a 0:4 lead. The guests from Freak City continued to push and, after nearly 7 minutes, took their first double-digit lead with a drive from Ibi Watson. Evans converted all three free throws to make it 13:22 at the end of the first quarter. At the beginning of the second quarter, the Bamberger team still had everything under control and maintained their lead. However, after some lapses on the Bamberger side, the hosts closed the gap to 32:35. KeyShawn Feazell and Filip Stanić both scored for the guests before halftime, so the Baskets went into the break with a 32:39-point lead. The hosts had the better start to the second half, quickly reducing the lead to 37:39. But then the Baskets picked up the pace, and it showed on the scoreboard. The game remained close and hard-fought, but Stanić & Co. always had the upper hand. As in the second quarter, the Baskets also had the better end in the third quarter. Moritz Krimmer and Kyle Lofton made it 65:58 after 30 minutes. The intensity and focus were also right in the last quarter. Ronaldo Segu's layup 2:55 minutes before the end to make it 66:83 was the decisive moment. In the end, the scoreboard showed a well-deserved 73:87 victory for the team from Freak City.
Next up for the Bamberger team is a home game in the BBL against Telekom Baskets Bonn on Saturday. Tip-off is at 18:30.
