Motorsport: Dominik Dinkel scores in Lavanttal under difficult conditions

The Brose Rally Team had to deal with several problems at the "45th International Lavanttal Rally" in Austria on 14 and 15 April, which almost forced them to retire. Only with the greatest willpower Dominik Dinkel and Pirmin Winklhofer were able to secure third place in the Mitropa Rally Cup classification and thus 42 important points towards the rally championship.

While the demands of the rally, which had increased enormously due to the short return of winter, affected the entire field, Dominik Dinkel also had to deal with health problems. Already at the beginning of the night on Saturday, nausea and severe stomach pains set in. He still had 105 kilometres of special stages ahead of him. "As a result of the rainfall, the narrow roads were very dirty and extremely slippery. It was like driving on soft soap. Always with the danger of sliding off the road." Dominik Dinkel reported. However, the team was satisfied with seventh place overall, which puts them in third place in the MRC standings.

The next round of the Mitropa Rally Cup will be the Rally Velenje in the north-east of Slovenia on 26th and 27th May. There, the team around Dominik Dinkel took the overall victory in 2021.
