Banders Hatch

Podium for Engelhart at the premiere of the GT World Challenge

Banders Hatch, 05-05-2019

Christian Engelhart and his teammate Mirko Bortolotti turned in a successful performance at Brands Hatch to capture third place in the first race in the successor series to the Blancpain Sprint Cup. On yet another difficult weekend, the two pilots and the Grasser Racing Team again displayed impressive fighting spirit. The team is back on the track again in the UK this weekend.

Christian Engelhart is currently embroiled in weeks of intense action in GT sport, but the experienced pilot in the Lamborghini Huracán GT3 Evo is coping with that thanks to his great routine and strong teammates. The Grasser Racing Team/Lamborghini duo was able to chalk up a success at Brands Hatch last weekend by crossing the line in third in the first race of the Blancpain GT World Challenge weekend.

“I really like Brands Hatch. It’s a fantastic track with lots of fast bends. The competition is very strong and the races in the Blancpain GT World Challenge are a perfect complement to the endurance races. So our third place among this field is all the more valuable, even though we’d have liked to have finished a bit higher up.”

Christian also turned in an impressive display in the second race, where he was able to lay the foundation for a tenth-place finish after starting from the end of the field. The duo managed to move up 14 spots and once more underscore its driving skills, as well as the fine performance of the team and the Lamborghini Huracán GT3 Evo.

“The first race showed just how strong the competition was. There was no beating the Mercedes, at least at Brands Hatch. That was a remarkable performance and strong showing. But we have no need to fear comparison: Despite our setbacks with damage and a drive-through penalty, we captured a decent number of points and know that we’re by and large on the right path.”

Christian returns to the British Isles this weekend, when the pilot from Bavaria will contest the long-distance races in the Blancpain GT Series Endurance Cup on the legendary Silverstone track.
