Brose Motorsport: Season opener at the Planai Classic

Gröbming, 01-13-2024

The Brose Motorsport team travelled to Ennstal in Austria to kick off the 2024 season. 42 teams from five nations had entered the 27th edition of the legendary Planai Classic winter rally. The three-day programme in the Schladming-Dachstein region included around 320 kilometers of testing on target time.

The Enns Valley welcomed the participants with glorious winter weather: with bright sunshine, blue skies and freezing cold, the conditions on the snow-covered roads were challenging but excellent.

Michael Stoschek (Ahorn) and Philip Späth (Berlin) entered a Porsche 914/6 GT from 1970 to kick off the season. The vehicle delivers 216 hp at a weight of 1000 kg.

For the two experienced drivers, the focus of the winter rally was on having fun and drifting on snow-covered mountain roads. On the first stage, the 5.7 km drive up the snow-covered Dachstein at an altitude of around 1,700 meters, Stoschek immediately set the fastest time in the field of participants. The same was achieved on the ride to the Planai summit. It was agreed with some of the participants, such as Le Mans winner Hans Joachim Stuck: "We're going all out!"
