s.Oliver Würzburg Partnermeeting at Brose

Würzburg, 10-24-2016

The s.Oliver Würzburg Partner Meeting was held at Brose’s Würzburg location on October 24. 100 sponsors, the coaching team, players and management of s.Oliver Würzburg took up the basketball club’s invitation.

Plant Manager Bernd Kaufer welcomed the guests and gave an overview of the family-owned company and its products. Theory was followed by practice: The visitors were available to gain insights into the “world of Brose” on guided tours of production.

In the panel discussion, Dr. Stefan Holz (Managing Director of the German Basketball League), Rolf Beyer (CEO Brose Bamberg), Steffen Liebler and Gunars Balodis (both Managing Directors of s.Oliver Würzburg) discussed issues such as plans for a new multifunctional arena in Würzburg. s.Oliver Würzburg would need a modern arena in the medium term “in order to achieve our ambitious goals, as well as also comply with the league’s standard in the future and establish ourselves permanently among the top clubs in the league,” stated Gunars Balodis. “We also want to play in European competition soon. That also won’t be possible permanently with the s.Oliver Arena.” Rolf Beyer added: “We’re looking to Würzburg with very eager anticipation and hope things work out. If things happen here, that in turn will help spur on Bamberg.”

A further topic was the goal of becoming one of Europe’s strongest leagues by the year 2020. That needs not only strong locations and ambitious clubs, but also a further growth in media presence, said Stefan Holz, who also promoted the new basketball TV magazine “Crunch Time” on ProSieben MAXX (Wednesdays at 10 p.m.).
