Serbia: Brose at the Electric Vehicles Days Conference
At the two-day Electric Vehicle Days Conference in Novi Sad (Serbia), the company Brose participated as an initiator and organizer of an IEEE4 (Institute of Electrical and Electronics Engineers) Challenge.
For us, as a globally operating family business, systematically promoting young people is a matter of course. By supporting projects near our locations, we also take on a great social responsibility as a local economic force. In Serbia, Brose actively supports all major technical faculties. Additionally, we organize the Brose Excellence Program to honor the best talents. The program aims to support the next generation of innovators and further research in the field of automotive electronics.
In the past two years, we have been part of the Electronic Vehicles Days. This is a conference dedicated to electromobility, presenting new global technological solutions for the transportation of people and goods. A part of the conference is the IEEE4 Student Challenge, which we actively support. This project consists of four thematic challenges created by our engineers and is intended for students. They are to try to solve problems that automotive engineers also face in their daily work.
Our colleagues from the electronics development department designed a prototype of the kit-car module with four DC motors, operated by an Arduino microcontroller and an ultrasonic distance sensor. The main task for the students was to assemble a car with the available components and equipment and enable control via remote control.
Four groups of students had a total of two days to solve all the tasks and get the car running. A separate evaluation system was developed for each task. At the end of the second day, the results were presented to our engineers and managers.
Ultimately, all four groups managed to successfully solve the tasks, but one team stood out in particular. In recognition of their outstanding performance, the team was awarded a scholarship program worth 60,000 RSD per student. Congratulations to the students and many thanks to our colleagues Luka Konovalov, Aleksa Miletic, and Aleksa Gadjanski Bozic for the successful design and implementation of the challenge.
