Setback for Dominik Dinkel at the Lower Saxony Rally

Osterode, 09-08-2018

The Brose Motorsport rally Team of Dinkel/Fürst displayed strong nerves and a will of iron at the 13th ADAC Lower Saxony Rally in Osterode in the Harz Mountains. Lying in the lead, the duo were forced to curb their speed significantly when the drive of the Brose Skoda Fabia R5 suffered damaged out of the blue. Nevertheless, they secured second place in the overall standings and captured victory and so bonus points in the power stage. The rally was won by Marijan Griebel/Alexander Rath in a Peugeot 208 T16 with a lead of 1:09 minutes. There was a great tussle for every second between the two teams until Dinkel/Fürst were thwarted by the technical defect. Despite the setback, Dinkel is still in first place in the German Rally Championship, albeit tied on points with Marijan Griebel/Alexander Rath.

Dominik Dinkel: “Something like that can happen at any time in our technical sport. Even the professional, meticulous preparation our Brose Skoda underwent at BRR can’t protect you against that. We’re happy we were able to finish the Lower Saxony Rally and about the high pace with displayed around Osterode. We’re now level on points with Marijan Griebel in the German Rally Championship and there are two rallies left – the Erzgebirge and Three Towns –, which we’ll go into full of motivation. Our backer Michael Stoschek, our sponsors and our great fans are a great encouragement and also motivation on our further journey through the 2018 season, in which we aim to finish as German champions. That’s still our mission and we’ll fight hard to achieve it to the last kilometer of the final trial.”
