Shanghai: Volunteer work for older citizens

Shanghai, 12-25-2023

At the end of December 2023, Jenny Xiang, President of Brose China, visited the Anting Fangtai Homes facility together with volunteers to take part in a donation handover. Xie Zuocan, the deputy mayor of the city of Anting, also took part in the visit.

Since 2022, employees from our headquarters in Shanghai have been involved in the "Care for the Elderly" campaign for the well-being of elderly citizens in the region's care homes. In 2022, the focus of the support was still on providing urgently needed face masks and disinfectants. The volunteers now collect donations to make everyday life easier for the residents.

The employees presented the care home with four LCD screens, which should make it easier for the elderly to find out about the daily routine in the facility, the menu and current healthcare offers.

As a sign of best wishes, our staff also gave the residents warm red waistcoats and home-knitted red scarves (in China, the colour red symbolises happiness and joy and is said to have a strengthening and energising effect). During the afternoon together, the volunteers then played music with the residents, sang and wove red bracelets together.

"On behalf of the residents and the town of Anting, thank you for your commitment and your generous donation," said Xie Zuocan, Deputy Mayor of Anting. "Working for the welfare of elderly citizens is part of our social responsibility and I am pleased that we can give something back to the people of the region in which we operate in this way," emphasised Jenny Xiang.
