Tennis: Krawietz misses out on quarter-final at Paris Masters

Paris, 11-04-2021

Brose-supported tennis pro Kevin Krawietz has missed out on a place in the quarter-finals of the Paris Masters. Against the doubles team of his old and new partner for 2022, Andreas Mies, the Coburg-born player and his interim partner Horia Tecău lost 3:6 and 3:6.

The first set was equal at first and Krawietz/ Tecau were little behind until 3:3. In the seventh game, Krawietz served for the second time - and did so confidently at first with a 30:0 lead and an ace. Then the player from Witzmannsberg lost his concentration, hit a backhand volley into the net and lost the direct duels against Mies - break for the player from Cologne and the Frenchman. It was not to come to a rebreak: Krawietz' decisive return went into the net. Mies and Martin were now almost unstoppable and decided the first set in their favor.

The second set was seven minutes longer than the first (33 minutes), but the result was the same: 3:6. The second game, in which Tecau served, was decisive. Then Mies/Martin pulled away to 5:1. Krawietz and Tecau fought their way back to 3:5. After 73 minutes of play, however, their opponents clinched a well-deserved place in the quarter-finals with their second match point.

Even before the round of 16 match in Paris, it was clear that Krawietz/Tecau had qualified for the ATP Finals in Turin (November 14-21). We wish them best of luck.
