Two places on the rostrum for Christian Engelhart

Lausitzring, 06-07-2016

It was yet another intensive agenda for Christian Engelhart. The 29-year-old pilot from Kösching lined up in a total of four races at the Lausitzring – and once again managed to capture a spot on the winner’s rostrum twice. As a result, he is in second place overall in the Porsche Carrera Cup Germany, just behind the leader.

As if Christian Engelhart’s workload were not strenuous enough, the Porsche and ADAC GT Masters pilot experience an intensive weekend of racing in all departments at the Lausitzring in soaring temperatures. “Of course, I was fully aware beforehand that my timetable would be very tight again. But everything turned out well. I was again able concentrate on every race, felt in good shape in each qualifying and ended up with good places on the rostrum.”

Two fourth places in the ADAC GT Masters together with Rolf Ineichen for the Grasser Racing Team in a Lamborghini Huracan GT3 and two second places in the Porsche Carrera Cup Germany are the upshot of Christian’s current form. “I laid a solid foundation for the races and on the Saturday I was able to pick up right where I left off.” Christian’s plan worked out to a tee: fourth place in the Porsche Carrera Cup, but above all a hard-fought second spot in the ADAC GT Masters. Yet the driver from Kösching did not rest content with that. The next day he added another place on the podium and captured 18 important points in the second race of the Porsche Carrera Cup. “I was on a real roll. I really enjoyed the fight. It again showed what I’m capable of this season. That’s important for me. Even though we had bad luck in the second GT Masters race and were kicked out of the race, as it were, I feel sure I can achieve a lot in 2016.”

Christian’s next weekend of racing is in mid-June after the “short summer break”: a DTM event at the Norisring. “That’ll be a real home race and many of my friends, partners and of course my family will be there. I’d like to turn in a good performance for them and my fans again and give them something to celebrate.”
