Christian Engelhart ends Blancpain GT World Challenge with two podium placements

Budapest, 09-08-2019

Christian Engelhart and his teammate Mirko Bortolotti followed up a strong display in qualifying over the weekend of racing at the Hungaroring in Budapest: The duo ended up capturing two places on the winner’s rostrum for their Grasser Racing Team. Christian thus underscored his fine current form and has now taken five podium placements, including one victory, from the last six races.

Successful – that single word was how Christian Engelhart summed up the weekend in Hungary. The Lamborghini pilot and his teammate Mirko Bortolotti demonstrated in qualifying just how strong they are at the moment. Their clear goal was to compete for a place on the rostrum on the legendary Formula 1 track just outside Budapest.

Christian achieved that objective two-fold – and captured second spot in qualifying. He called that an important stepping stone on the way to a successful finish to the Blancpain GT World Challenge. With two podiums – after taking the checkered flag in third on the Saturday and coming second in the Sunday race – the duo again picked up important points following their success at the Nürburgring the week before and so are buoyed up going into the finale of the series. The duo managed to capture the third-highest tally of points in the championship – a fine achievement given that Christian is also fighting for the title in other championships at the same time.

After this weekend, his sights are already set on Hockenheim, where the penultimate weekend of racing in the ADAC GT Masters season will be staged starting on Friday. The Lamborghini pilot in car number 63 aims to pick up important points in the championship – and, together with Mirko Bortolotti, to add two further successes to his current string of five podiums out of six races.
