Consulting and Engineering

Additive manufacturing is an integral part of the development process at Brose and is used specifically where it creates functional and economic added value. Our experts support projects from the early concept phase onwards. We work closely with customers to analyze the suitability of components for 3D printing. Our one-stop solution approach supports our customers from the initial idea through material development and product design to the production of a ready-to-install component. In accordance with component specifications and customer requirements, the main variables of 3D printing – material, process, and component design – are coordinated in a targeted manner.

With the support of state-of-the-art software solutions, we develop designs that meet both, the specification sheet and the 3D printing process. The basis for 3D printing is a digital image of the relevant component – if this is missing, than we generate our own data model.

Production and Finishing

We pursue an integrated manufacturing approach right through to installation readiness. Using industrial machinery, we print metal and plastic components for a wide range of applications and industries. For functional prototypes and series parts, we rely on powder bed systems with laser technology. If required, we develop and qualify customer-specific material solutions and coordinated process parameters. During work preparation, the 3D printing data is processed taking into account the interactions along the entire process chain – 3D printing, mechanical finishing, surface technology, and quality assurance.

Standardized post-processing steps ensure dimensional accuracy and surface quality – even with complex geometries. For quality assurance, we rely on optical and tactile measurement technology. This allows us to precisely check dimensional and shape accuracy as well as functional features and document them reliably.

Brose's Excellence in Additive Manufacturing

With our extensive expertise in additive manufacturing, we deliver demanding projects at the highest level of technical excellence. At Brose, 3D printing is an integral part of our manufacturing strategy. State-of-the-art equipment, in-depth materials expertise, and continuous process monitoring enable the reliable production of highly complex components with maximum precision. This allows us to achieve tailor-made results for both internal applications and external customers.
