Tiago Monteiro finishes second in Langstrecken Nürburgring

Tiago Monteiro's return to competition at the Nordschleife in the Langstrecken Nürburgring championship was a great success. Behind the wheel of the TCR Honda Civic Type R, which he shared with Dominik Fugel and Mike Halder, the Portuguese driver finished the race in 2nd place.

Things got off to a great start with a brilliant pole position in the TCR category secured by Dominik Fugel on the famous and complex German circuit. “We secured first place on the starting grid but qualifying wasn’t easy. In addition to the rain, there were several yellow flags, but Dominik Fugel still achieved our goal,” Tiago explained. “At the start of the race, the rain returned and I had to be careful. I lost and gained positions and, as the race progressed, my lap times improved. I am satisfied with our progress and with our second place finish, which is the result of excellent teamwork,” said Tiago.

This first race allowed Tiago to achieve the main objective he had set himself: to prepare for the start of the upcoming FIA WTCR World Touring Car Cup season. “I am very happy to be back in competition and behind the wheel of the Honda Civic thanks to Honda, Honda Germany and Fugel Motorsport. Everything went as planned and now I can't wait to start the FIA WTCR season in September,” he concluded.
