BBL: Bamberg Baskets ignite offensive fireworks in Hamburg

The Bamberg Baskets remain unpredictable in the Basketball Bundesliga this season: After six consecutive defeats – with the low point being the 92:101 home defeat against relegated BG Göttingen recently – the Bamberg Baskets achieved an impressive 114:93 victory at the Hamburg Towers on Wednesday evening. In a game characterized by offensive exchanges, the Upper Franconians finally convinced again with team unity and individual class.
Already in the opening minutes, it was clear: This team did not want to be discouraged by the series of defeats. Noah Locke opened with two three-pointers, setting the first exclamation mark, Bamberg led 12:3. After a timeout, Hamburg woke up and managed to take control of the game, leading 35:42 three minutes before halftime. But then the Baskets significantly increased the pace and, led by top scorer Ronaldo Segu, turned the game around. With an outstanding 24:7 run in the last 180 seconds before halftime, the Gavel boys set a strong exclamation mark. After the break, it remained a game of runs, with Bamberg initially pulling away to sixteen points (68:52), Hamburg shortly thereafter reducing the gap to 70:66. However, the Baskets withstood the pressure and fought back with sheer determination, gradually extending their lead thanks to the tireless center Filip Stanic, Noah Locke, and Moritz Krimmer. In the fourth quarter, they completely overran Hamburg and showed what the Gavel team is capable of when all players pull together.
On Saturday, May 3, 2025, the Gavel boys will host the MHP Riesen Ludwigsburg at the Brose Arena. Tip-off is at 6:30 PM.
