Since mid-July, the Brose Group’s Purchasing has been carrying out enquiries worldwide on the internet via their own supplier portal, which is called “BROFIS” (Brose File Information System). The enquiry documents are to be found on the Brose server. After accessing the SAP-based system with their allocated password, the suppliers are able to submit their offer “online.”
With more than 2,500 enquiries a year, Brose intends to tighten up the procurement process considerably by using this supplier portal. As well as increasing efficiency and transparency, the company is also one step nearer to the “paperless office”. Now that the test phase involving 90 suppliers is almost concluded, it is planned to carry out all enquiries for production material via “BROFIS” by mid-September. Internet enquiries for the procurement of investment goods and services are planned as well from the autumn of 2002.
Besides using the supplier portal, the corporate group also conducts internet auctions. In addition, Brose is an associated member of the virtual supplier market place “SupplyOn”.
