2.BBL: Another Defeat Against Würzburg
The BBC Coburg lost for the third time in a row on Saturday. They suffered a 79:97 defeat at home against the VR Bank Würzburg Baskets Academy, marking Würzburg’s first win of the season.
The guests from Würzburg started the game strong. The Baskets forced six Coburg turnovers in the first four minutes, ending with a total of 21. With a clear score of 2:21 in the 5th minute, the concentration dropped a bit, allowing the hosts to get back into the game. With a strong phase, they managed to fight back to 43:48 by halftime and even briefly took the lead after a three-pointer by Nico Höller (43:42). The hosts also started the third quarter better, scoring the first five points of the second half and tying the game at 48:48 in the 22nd minute. However, Würzburg also found their rhythm in the second half, defending more concentratedly and pulling away with an 18:5 run in the following six minutes. Hannes Steinbach and Calvin Wishart took over the offense during this phase, scoring fourteen points, and with a score of 53:66 in the 28th minute, a decision was already made. The VR Bank Würzburg Baskets Academy did not let go of their lead for the rest of the game. Although Coburg never gave up, the gap never got smaller than eleven points. Christian Skladanowski put the final touch on the game with a dunk after the Baskets’ thirteenth turnover.
